iWish · Ideal shopping app concept

Posted 15 September 2020 by Marlon Needelman

A group project to make an app concept, iWish was born out of the desire to have an app that can access many different sites, tracking items you are interested in, their prices and much more. Interestingly, Honey was becoming very popular around this time as well so this idea is actually very marketable.

Imagine you didn't have to compare 4 or 5 different sites manually to find the best deal for an item you are looking for. Imagine you didn't have to hunt for the details about a product. Imagine ratings are filtered by common consensus and verified. These are all ideas behind iWish.

For this project we had to make an interactive version in Figma. We set out to make all the visuals that would convey the usefulness of the app. We also wanted to create a visual identity that would be recognizable but not overtly looking like a christmas shopping list. Though missing the full impact from an app that has fluid animations, the design is robust and fleshed out for a working concept.

Feel free to play around with the prototype above.

My group mates and I decided early on that we wanted to make an app like this after I had come up with the name iWish. And we built out the idea from the name but it seemed to take shape organically as we worked. We wanted our idea to be an app that doesn't seem to currently exist but feels like it should. In the end I am very proud of the result we came to. Now I just have to adjust the design for an iphone 11 screen.

This is the prototype map showing all the functions and pages we made to execute the working prototype.
